Excerpt from East Anglia Daily Times of April 2nd

*Town wants to be blooming best*

Mike Ames: Chairman of Bury in Bloom says..

“This year’s launch sees us embark on a very ambitious three-year plan. We want to take the top prize in Anglia in Bloom this year,  this ensuring our nomination to Britain in Bloom 2009 to gain a Gold Award from the Royal Horticultural society in that year,  resulting in a place in Entente Floral Europe in 2010.”

Julia Rackowe: Campaign manager added..

“Underpinning any bids we make to win regional, national or indeed international competitions is the solid work we carry out here in Bury. The modern in Bloom campaign is a holistic movement, with its roots in the community. This year we are rolling out a new competition. Green Fingers, to get everyone – the elderly, young people, businesses, schools, statutory bodies – engaged in improving our environment.

Whether it is children planting a mini-orchard, businesses greening up their frontages, or residents providing bird-friendly environments in their gardens, we all benefit, and Bury continues to be a thriving and award winning town. What does this mean?
